The first thousand.

A one-time, lifetime membership for the people who fund the Guild first. $200, once. The price never goes up and the membership never expires. When 1,000 spots are taken, the tier closes for good.

The Planters' Guild LLC is a for-profit publication. Founding Membership is a purchase, not a donation, and isn't tax-deductible.

Every Founding Member's name goes on the founding wall, in brass, at the physical Guild.

From checkout to the Guild.

The library stays free

Your $200 keeps every guide in the Plant Library, the Substrate Library and the Field Manual free to read.

Why ask before there's much to show.

The Planters' Guild is what I want plant writing to be: patient, honest, and checked against the evidence. The site you're reading is the beginning of it.

The Founding tier exists because I'd rather build this with a thousand people who chose to fund it than with investors who would change what it has to be. Your $200 pays for publishing now and for the physical Guild later, and it makes you one of the people who started it.

That's a different kind of relationship than a subscription, and I'll treat it that way. I'll write to you about what's working and what isn't.

The Planters' Guild LLC, a for-profit company. This is a purchase, not a donation, and it isn't tax-deductible.

Before you decide.

Where does the $200 go?

Hosting, photography, the tools that run the Library and the Apprenticeship, and a reserve for the physical Guild. None of it pays the founder a salary.

What if the physical Guild never gets built?

Your lifetime membership in the publication continues regardless. The Members area, the bench-notes and the Founder's note don't depend on the building.

How will my name appear on the founding wall?

At checkout you choose: your name, a business name, a pseudonym, or anonymous. You can also leave it off entirely and still be a Founding Member. The wall goes up in brass at the physical Guild.

I'm already a Member. Can I switch?

Yes, while Founding spots remain. Pay the $200 Founding price and any unused Member subscription credit is applied.

Is this tax-deductible?

No. The Planters' Guild LLC is a for-profit company and Founding Membership is a purchase from it. If you'd like to give to garden access or horticulture education, look for a local nonprofit doing that work. Most counties have one.

$200 is more than I want to spend right now.

Membership starts at $5 a month, and one-time support can be any amount from $5. Everything the Guild publishes stays free to read either way. See all three ways to support.

Founding isn't the only way in. Membership starts at $5 a month, and reading is always free.
